Mariapia is a Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics, Università di Milano Bicocca, Research Unit Director at Centro Studi Luca d'Agliano, Research Fellow at IZA, Co-Editor of The B.E. Journal of Economic Analysis and Policy, and member of the editorial board at Lavoce.info. Her main research interests are in the fields of international and development economics, the economics of migration. Her recent research has focused on the political economy of migration, human capital investment, culture, diversity and networks.
