In this essay, I examine Burundi’s grain storage challenges and advocate for policies to improve local storage through stronger cooperatives, enhanced public facilities, and guidance for farmers on storage options. I argue these policies could enable more effective agricultural management, boosting economic stability and food security. I conclude by addressing potential obstacles like farmer engagement and government collaboration.
