Akos Valentinyi is a Professor of Macroeconomics at the University of Manchester. His research includes economic growth and development with a primary focus on structural change. He has been a CEPR Research Fellow in the Macroeconomics and Growth programme since 2007 (previously a Research Affiliate) and is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Economics’ Centre for Economic and Regional Studies of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He was previously Head of Research at the National Bank of Hungary. He is a graduate of the University of Economics in Budapest and completed his PhD in Economics at the European University Institute in Florence in 1997.
