Juan Sebastián Galán is an Assistant Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at the Universidad de los Andes. He studies the institutional and cultural foundations of economic development in Latin America, examining a range of historical and contemporary issues, including state capacity, conflict, cultural norms, and how they affect development policies, such as agrarian reform or industrial policy. Juan holds a PhD in Political Economy and Government from Harvard University.
