Robert C. Johnson

Robert C. Johnson is a member of the Notre Dame Team. He is an Associate Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at the University of Notre Dame. Robert works at the intersection of international trade and macroeconomics. He is a leading expert in the role of global value chains, and his research has shown how the rise of global value chains has altered trade and macroeconomic interdependence between countries. Prior to arriving at Notre Dame in 2018, Robert was an Associate Professor of Economics at Dartmouth College. He is a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, and an Associate Editor at the Journal of the European Economic Association and Journal of Development Economics. He has previously served as consultant and visiting scholar at the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. Robert received a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, a MSc. in Global Market Economics from the London School of Economics, where he was a Marshall Scholar, and a B.A. in Economics from Northwestern University.
