Esther

Esther is an applied economist and studies a diverse range of topics in labour and development economics with a special focus on public policies. Her current research is on labour markets in West Africa and how individuals make decisions about education, job search, work and migration. Some of her past work analysed the impact of maternity leave policies and how different skills shape individual's labour market outcomes in high-income countries.  

She works as a Senior Lecturer (Advanced Assistant Professor) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS Business School, Economics Discipline Group). She is also a research fellow at the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) in Bonn (Germany).

She has been awarded a Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) by the Australian Research Council for herresearch project "Labour market expectations, job search and migration of young graduates" (2025-2028).
