Niclas Moneke is an Associate Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at the University of Oxford. His research interests centre on energy and environmental economics, development economics and international trade. His work focuses on how access to energy in low-income countries affects economic development and involves collecting new, geo-identified data on the large-scale electricity expansions in Ethiopia, Myanmar and Zambia. He then combines reduced-form causal and structural estimation, employing tools from international trade. Niclas earned his PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
