Supreet Kaur is an Assistant Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. She is a development economist, overlapping with behavioural and labour economics. The first strand of her research focuses on the functioning of labour markets in poor countries, documenting frictions in labour markets, the causes of unemployment, and the impact of inequality on labour productivity. The second strand of her research explores how social norms and behavioural biases, such as the limits of human cognition and self-control problems, can affect individual behaviour and market equilibria. By applying insights from psychology into economics, she aims to deepen the understanding of the causes and consequences of poverty. Supreet received her PhD in Political Economy and Government (Economics) from Harvard University.
