Firms, Labour Markets, and Development Workshop - Call for Papers

The Firms, Labour Markets, and Development workshop, now at its 4th edition, seeks to promote the exchange and dissemination of new research in the field of development economics and its intersections with industrial organization,
international trade, labor economics, and migration.

This year’s workshop will be held on 28-29 June 2024 at the Ortygia Business School in Siracusa, Italy, and is planned as an in-person event.

The workshop calls for papers covering, but not limited to:

  • Firm and sectoral productivity
  • Access to foreign markets
  • Firms in hostile environments
  • Growth and structural transformation
  • Technology adoption, learning, and diffusion
  • Labour market frictions
  • Causes and consequences of international migration
  • Refugees and forced displacement

Keynote speaker: Paula Bustos, ICREA Research Professor, Universitat Pompeu Fabra

A limited budget is available upon request to cover accommodation expenses for up to two nights.

The deadline to submit is March 20th, 2024. Authors of selected papers will be informed by mid-
April.
